m above sea level, country of issue miedioevale, still surrounded by
walls and towers, posizioine extraordinarily picturesque on top of a
steep hill. It was Roman city that some believe the oldest of
Sabina, (perhaps it was this city sabina mentioned Virgil), in the
Middle Ages became Farfa and possession of the century. XIII is
erected a free commune. Feudo, in the following century, the
Perugian Nic. Ask for Ranieri, then passed to the municipality and
the Roman Church to go then alternately feud in the Savelli and
Orsini, in 1592 incorporated into the Church. In many points of its
territory remains are Romany. Follow the ring that contorna the
walls up to a large square dominated, in front, high baroque façade
of the church, built in 1609 by G. Saracens; inside, the high altar,
there is a beautiful canvas (Annunciation) of Sassoferrato.
Sottopassata a door salt, with stairs, at the top of the country,
where there is the parish of St. John the Baptist, enlarged and
restructured in'500, but which still retains the primitive
dugentesca tower (rebuilt on top) with two sets of double windows
and a balcony terminal. Inside the 3 ° altar right, we see a wooden
statue of St. Sebastian school Abruzzo of'500; apse, Baptism of
Jesus (in predella Christ and the Apostles), Table of James Sicilian
(signed and dated 1524).
A 15-minute pidi south on the road to Cantalupo, we arrive at Mount
FioLo, m 404 walking between elci secular, on top of M. Fiolo there
is the church of St. Francis with a large adjoining convent. A broad
view from here you can admire.
From Casperia in 3 hours, along mule tracks, we can get to Mount
Pizzuto, 1287 m, passing through Source Cognolo to 1054 m where
there is a source of fresh water, (destination for frequent trips).
A long retrospective view remains in the picturesque Casperia along
the streets on the outskirts of feature elevatura.
Nearby, a 2 km to the north arrives in S. Maria in Legarano built on
the ruins visible of a Roman villa and preceded by a porch where the
remains are placed sculptures Romany; lunette in the portal access,
Annuciazione, fresco by Bartholomew Torresani. The interior of a
Latin cross, with a nave roof trusses, a chapel to the left of the
entrance portal Last Judgment fresco of B. Torresani; in a niche on
the wall left Marriage of Maria, fresco attributed to Alessandro
Torresani, the head of the left transept, Virgin and St. Joseph, two
polychrome terracotta statues of artists Abruzzo, 500; the high
altar, Madonna and Child, polychrome wooden statue of Charles
Aquilano (1489); head to the right, wooden crucifix of'400.
